Facebook has been launching an all-round attack on Snapchat. With all of Facebook’s major apps such as Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram now offering abilities to show disappearing stories, the company has also been introducing photo filters. Photo filters were available on all three apps but WhatsApp. However starting today, WhatsApp Photo Filters are being rolled out for the users of WhatsApp Beta.
The update was reportedly coming since quite a long time. However, the wait is now over and the WhatsApp Photo Filters are now here. These photo filters come with the WhatsApp 2.17.297 update for WhatsApp Beta users. The filters are easy to use and easy to find. All a user needs to do is to swipe up on the image. They are also shown the text ‘Swipe up for filters’ so that they know where the filters are.
These are basic filters which allow you to modify the hue and colors of the image. There are only 5 WhatsApp photo filters which have been introduced so far: Pop, B&W, Cool, Chrome, and Film. Users can also choose to share photos without applying any filter. As of now the intensity of the filters too, can not be changed a la Instagram.
Interestingly, while these WhatsApp photo filters were introduced in WhatsApp Beta 2.17.297 they are not a part of the 2.17.298 build. It looks like WhatsApp is still confused about it, and has accidentally ended up giving beta users a sneak peak at the feature and how it functions like. Hopefully when the features return there will be more filters and options.
As of now there’s no word on when the WhatsApp photo filters would be out for the public in stable build. Facebook owned WhatsApp has been getting a number of updates recently. Reports have pointed out that Facebook-like colored keywords are being tested on WhatsApp too. In India, users will soon be able to make UPI payments via the popular chat app. Stay tuned with us for more details on WhatsApp.
