Vivo today officially announced the Nex Dual Display Edition smartphone. This is the follow-up to their flagship phone that was released earlier this year. The Nex Dual Display Edition features a dual-screen design that eliminated the display notch. What makes this device different from its predecessor is that it does not have a pop-up selfie camera.
Yes, you read it correctly, this is a smartphone with no front-facing camera. The Nex Dual Display Edition has a second screen on the back that you can use to frame your selfie shot. IT has 12MP rear camera, a 2MP secondary module and a third one with f/1.3 lens. It also comes with a time of flight (TOF) 3D module.
According to Vivo, the TOF 3D provides a more secure facial recognition for unlocking the rear display. It can also be used for “personalized beautification” of your selfies. The Nex Dual Display Edition has a 6.39-inch Ultra FullView Display and an improved screen-to-body ratio of 91.63%.
Additionally, the Nex Dual Display Edition features the Lunar Ring on the rear display. This ring allows the creation of a glowing band of colors used for notifications and music pulse.
Under the hood, the Nex Dual Display Edition rocks a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 10GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’s powered by a 3,500mAh battery with support for fast-charging via USB-C port.
Pricing and international availability are still unknown at this time, but the Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition will be on sale in China starting December 29 for around $725.
