When I was a kid, I used to drool over flip phones. Back then it seemed to be so cool. Samsung is probably going to make some kid (and mine) live their dream. The flip phone from the Korean company has been named SM-G9198 which will be powered by the Snapdragon 808 processor with a speed of 1.8GHz hexa-core processor.
Later with the growth of Android OS, companies preferred smartphones with Touch screens and many companies dropped the “Flip Phone model”. The Samsung SM-G9198 is not just another flip phone, it is a Smart Flip Phone. It seems that Samsung is again planning to change the game, like it did with the Samsung corby smartphones.
There are still curiosity over the processor because Samsung had switched over to their home production of Exynos chipset oflate. Some of the Samsung phones to have an Exynos chipset on board are – Samsung Galaxy J7, Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy A7, etc.
Other specs includes Android 5.1 Lollipop, 2GB RAM, 16MP rear camera(with an aperture of f/1.9) and 6MP front camera, 16GB internal storage with an option of expansion with the help of a microSD card, a dual 3.9 inch Super AMOLED display(with Corning Gorilla screen) with resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels and a 2020 mAh battery which gives a standby of up to 189 hours.
It’s is also rumored that this phone will have a heart rate sensor. With LTE connectivity, the phone will have dimensions 119.7 x 66.6 x 16.7 mm. Websites have renamed this flip phone as smart flip phone owing to the high end tech specs. And why won’t they? These features will surely make SM-G9198 stand out in the flip phone market.
The phone has been launched in China officially as of now. But will it be available worldwide like LG has done with Wine Smart flip phone or will Samsung limit it to the Asian countries only? That’s the big debate. And if it is, would you like to give it a try?
