Flash TWRP recovery on your Galaxy S3

Every android phone comes with a recovery installed in it, but the reason why a lot of people shift to a custom recovery like TWRP is because of the limitations in the stock android recovery. You shall follow our guide, which helps you install TWRP recovery on your Galaxy S3 (GT-i9300).

Transfer the Lineage OS Zip & GApps to your Samsung Galaxy S3

Download both, Lineage OS and the Gapps. The Lineage OS is the operating system which you’ll be installing and the Gapps are the “Google Apps” which you would require to use all the services such as Gmail, Google Maps, Play Store, Google Play Music etc.

We generally recommend storing the files in the outermost directory of your SD card. If you don’t have an SD card then you shall store it in the outermost directory of your internal storage. But remember, it is recommended to use a microSD card for such purposes.

Reboot your Samsung Galaxy S3 into recovery mode

Once you’ve installed the TWRP recovery on your Samsung Galaxy S3, The old recovery would be replaced with the TWRP recovery. Now turn off the device and keep it off for 5 or more seconds. After that press the following key combinations: Press Volume UP + Home Button + Power Key and you’ll see the TWRP recovery mode getting started.

Install ZIP via SD card

Once you’ve successfully started the TWRP recovery, you will see a lot of options. One of the top options would be “Install Zip”. First, find the Lineage OS zip and flash it, it might take some time. After flashing the Lineage OS, go back to the TWRP home screen, click on Install Zip and find the Gapps zip file. This will bring all the Google apps on your device. Once done with both, clear the cache.

Now reboot your device to the system. The first boot might take some time, however, if it takes more time or if you see a boot loop, then turn off your device again and reboot into recovery mode and also wipe the Internal storage + cache + data partition.
