While Samsung makes great phones, they are not really known for their timely updates. This year however, things are different. Samsung provided a timely Android Nougat update to the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, and even the smaller updates are on time. Today, the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) has started getting the February Android Security Patch update.
Samsung is among the biggest names when it comes to the world of technology. This South Korea based tech giant is a leading name in the consumer electronics markets, and especially in the smartphone markets. Samsung’s smartphones continue to dominate the market share globally. The February Android Security Patch is now rolling out for the users of the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) in The Netherlands.
What is quite surprising about this update is that Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) is getting this update even before the latest version of this smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017). This update is rolling out as the firmware version A310FXXU2BQB1. At the moment it has started off for users based in The Netherlands, but a global rollout is expected shortly.
The February Android Security Patch for the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) comes in at 226MB, and fixes over 50 vulnerabilities for Android users. In addition to that, several Samsung-specific vulnerabilities too, have been fixed. This is an OTA update that is being slowly rolled out, expect more European users to get this update in the next few weeks.
The February Android Security Patch and Samsung smartphones have a rather curious relationship. Not only did the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) get this update before the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017), but surprisingly, even the Samsung Galaxy S4, which hasn’t received any updates in the past 14 months got this update for T-Mobile users. Hopefully, Samsung will continue rolling out more updates on time in the future too! Do let us know when your region gets this update.
