The latest Android OS now runs on over 2.8% of all Android smartphones. In the initial stages it is usually either newly released phones or flagship phones that get the latest updates. Samsung’s flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy S7 has been getting this update over the past few months. The update now comes to Canada, as the Rogers Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users will soon be getting the Android 7.0 Nougat OS update.
The update has reached all the four major carriers in the US, and is now rolling out for the Canadian carriers as well. Popular name in the Canadian telecom circles, Rogers has officially stated that users on the Rogers Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be getting this update before the month ends. The Android Nougat OS update has been reaching out to a large number of smartphones, and at quite a pace too!
Rogers Samsung Galaxy S7 as well as S7 Edge users will get this update starting from the 20th of March. However 20th of March is the date the rollout begins. Canada is a large country and it might take a few weeks for everyone to receive this update. Users who do not get an over the air prompt for a few days can also try their luck by trying to manually trigger this update by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Updates.
While the users of Rogers Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have something to look forward to, the carrier also has some updates lined up for their Google Pixel and Pixel XL users. VoLTE and security updates are coming to these users on the 3rd of April.
In addition to this, the roadmap for Rogers also showcases a Huawei Nova Plus smartphone which will be getting the Android 7.0 Nougat OS update, which currently does not have a date but says ‘Coming Soon’.
