Android 7.0 Nougat is the latest version of the android operating system. Even after passage of so much time, not many devices run on Android Nougat. But if you are an Optus LG G5 customer then we have a good news for you. The Optus LG G5 would get the Android 7.0 Nougat update in the next month i.e. November.

There is no news from other carriers on the update, but since Optus has announced an update for the LG G5, it means that the manufacturer i.e. LG has already sent the update for testing to the carrier. So it can be expected that the other carriers shall also release the Android Nougat update for the LG G5.

From comparing Android Nougat with Android Marshmallow, we don’t find much differences, but there are a lot of small changes. These small changes surely won’t make a huge difference but it would provide a nice user experience. On such feature which we would like to name is the ‘App Shortcuts’.

The App Shortcuts is the intelligent version of the Android Long press. This brings the concept of the iPhone’s 3D Touch without making much changes to the android architecture. It isn’t exactly 3D touch, as there is no ‘pressure and feel’ factor. To remind you with the specs, The LG G5 has high-end specs and would surely shall get updates till Android O officially.

As time passes manufacturers discontinue providing updates for old devices. By the time, Android P hits the market, it will be late for the LG G5 and you won’t get updates from the manufacturer. The best part of android comes to save, this means, even if the manufacturers don’t release the updates, there are a lot of custom ROM developers who would surely cook a ROM based on the latest firmware for LG G5.
