Motorola’s Moto G series of smartphones is among the most popular names when it comes to the world of smartphone technology. Back when they were introduced, 5 years ago, they were quite a sensation. Motorola was among the first few major brands to introduce value for money smartphones, and the Moto G series of devices have worked really well since then. Motorola now intends to launch the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones. Today, the press images and the specifications of the devices were leaked on Twitter.

These leaks come via three leaksters, @EVleaks, @Davidteixe and @LSAwesome. Going by the looks of it, the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus look quite similar. The Moto G5 also features the fingerprint scanner this year. A camera panel that looks like the Moto Z has also been introduced to the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones.

Based on what we have at the moment, it looks like the frame is a little more rounded on the Moto G5 than on the Moto G5 Plus. It also appears as if Moto G5 Plus has a metallic frame to it. However, we recommend the readers to take this with a pinch of salt till Motorola and Lenovo officially release these smartphones.

Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus Specifications

Both, the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are quite similar in design as well as specifications this year. Both the phones come with the Android Nougat OS. Both the smartphones run on 2GB of RAM (A little disappointing as we were expecting a larger RAM on the Plus). Both the phones feature expandable storage.

The Moto G5 comes out with a 5 inched screen and offers storage of 32GB (A 16GB variant too, might be announced), while the Moto G5 Plus offers storage of up to 64GB (A 32GB variant too, might be announced). Moto G5 Plus also features NFC! This is an interesting addition to this smartphone. The Moto G5 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, while the G5 Plus runs on the Snapdragon 625.

Moto G5 will feature a 5 inched screen, while the Moto G5 Plus will feature a 5.2 inched screen. The Moto G5 will feature a 13MP camera on the back and a 5MP front camera. The G5 Plus surprisingly features a camera with lesser megapixels (but possibly a better resolution), as it comes out with a 12MP primary camera and a 5MP front camera. The Moto G5 runs on a 2800mAh battery (listed as removable), while the Moto G5 Plus comes with a 3000mAh battery.

Both the phones are officially expected to launch at the MWC 2017 event later this month. Both, the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus offer double nano-SIM support. Both the phones look quite interesting, and if the speculations are to be believed, they will be priced in lower than the previous generation Moto G smartphones!

It will indeed be interesting to see what Motorola has to offer at the Mobile World Congress event with the latest generation of the Moto G series of smartphones.
