Requirements
- A Download Manager/Torrent Downloading Client
- Remix OS 3.0 and Remix OS Installation tool (Download Remix OS 3.0 and Remix OS Installation tool)
- UEFI Boot with Secure Boot OFF (for 64-bit) or Legacy BIOS (for 32-bit/64-bit)
- Minimum 8GB space on Hard Disk (HDD)
So, without further ado, let’s go through the steps.
Step 1: Download the Remix OS 3.0 and Remix OS Installation tool
Remix OS 3.0 and the Installation tool, together, as a zip package is available for download. You can either download the package via a Torrent Client or Download Manager. If you don’t have any of these, you can install uTorrent or Free Download Manager to download the package.
The package is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows. While the 32-bit supports only Legacy BIOS mode, the 64-bit supports both Legacy BIOS as well as UEFI Boot (with Secure Boot disabled). If you haven’t downloaded from the requirements section then here you go
Download Remix OS 3.0 and Installation Tool
Step 2: Open the Remix OS Installation Tool.
Once, you’ve finished downloading the zip package, open it using any file archiver and extract the package. After extraction completes, you’ll have a folder with 3 files in it; an instruction file, the ISO file and the Remix OS Installation Tool. Open this tool and now proceed with the steps mentioned below.

The package consists of three files i.e.
- Remix OS 3.0 ISO
- Remix OS 3.0 Installation Tool.
- Steps to Launch Remix OS 3.0 (Text File)
Step 3: Select the ISO file, select ‘Hard Disk’ under ‘Type’, then the partition under ‘Drive’, and then press OK.
We will be installing Remix OS in an existing partition, however, if you are someone who doesn’t want to install the OS in any of the existing partitions then you can create a partition in Windows PC. (Google search: “Create partition in Windows OS”)
This tool allows you to install Remix OS 3.0 either on your hard disk or USB drive. For now, let’s continue with where we were. So, click the ‘Browse’ button and select the ISO file that you just extracted. Under ‘Type’, select ‘Hard Disk (HDD)‘ for disk installation as we need to dual boot the OS. Then under ‘Drive’, select your preferred partition and click ‘OK’. Keep in mind though that minimum 8GB partition space is required.
The installation process will begin once you click on OK, so please select the proper Drive or else, the installer will install it in a different drive (which might not be the place you would want to install)
Special Note: Currently, installation tool only supports Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10. Users of other operating systems like Mac will need to install it on USB flash drive.
Step 4: Reboot your PC/Laptop & Disable Secure Boot.
The Installation Tool will take a few minutes to install Remix OS on your partition. When it’s done, reboot your PC/Laptop.
Remember that if you’re using the 64-bit version of Windows with UEFI Boot, you’ll need to disable Secure Boot in the Boot Menu. To do this, while reboot, press the special key (F12 for Dell, F9 for HP, F12 for Lenovo, Option Key for MAC) to enter boot menu and change to ‘UEFI Boot with Secure Boot disabled’. Save the changes and boot again.

or if you don’t see the option to change the Secure Boot settings then boot into the BIOS of your system and disable the Secure Boot or Enable Legacy Boot mode.
Step 5: Select Remix OS in Windows Boot Menu
Now while booting again, just wait for the Windows Boot Menu. By default, your Windows OS is selected, so select Remix OS and press Enter.

First-time-boot will take about 20 minutes to prepare the data partition after which Remix OS logo should appear confirming successful installation. Once done, you will have to agree to the terms and conditions, select the language in which you want to install and that’s it, you will see the Remix OS 3.0 successfully dual booted with Windows operating system.
Now you have set up a dual boot environment with Windows and Remix OS. Later we’ll bring you articles on, ‘How to Install Google PlayStore on Remix OS 3.0’, ‘How to root your Remix OS installation’ and ‘How to increase the internal storage size of your Remix OS’. Till then adios!
