Google is a company which believes in constantly changing the way things work. They aim at making life a lot easier for the users. With their frequent updates, Google does exactly that. The latest few updates to Google Play services have all been beneficial for the users. First came the drop in the size of updates with the new Google Play algorithm. This was followed by the Google Play services Family Library plan which allows users to share products with family. The latest update now brings in more categories to the Google Play Store.
Google’s latest update to the Play Store is aimed at making apps more discoverable. The company has now introduced eight new categories which help describe the apps in a better manner. Let us take a look at the changes which have been introduced by Google –
- Art and Design
- Food and Drink
- House and Home
Changes to Existing Categories:
- Transportation category will be renamed Maps and Navigation
- Media and Video category will now be called Video Players and Editors
Google has announced that these changes are introduced but will reflect on the Google Play Store after 60 days. To change their category, the app developers need to sign in to their Google Play Developer Console. From there they can select their app and make appropriate changes from the menu. More details can be found on the Google Support page which gives step-by-step details on the process.
This is quite a useful change, and gives apps even more platforms to showcase theirselves. The increase in category means that the users too, would be able to find the exact kind of apps they are looking for without going through a list of irrelevant apps. Google Play Store has been getting a number of updates recently, and this one too, is quite useful for the users.
