Following the launch of Mini and Max the Google Pixelbook was launched. This device too functions with AI at it’s center. The Google Pixelbook is the thinnest and lightest device ever made by Google. It is just 10mm thin and weighs just 1 kilogram. The device was expected for months as it was speculated that a new flagship Google Chromebook device is coming out.
It supports a 4-in-1 design. It can be used as a laptop. The keyboard can be folded underneath. The device is also detachable and can be used as a tablet. It can also be kept on a tabletop by bending the keyboard. The back of this convertible laptop comes with a glass and metal back which reminds you of the Pixel smartphones.
The Pixelbook comes out into the markets with a 12.3 inched display. The device comes with a trackpad that knows the difference between your palm and your finger and will ensure accidental clicks do not happen. It comes with a USB Type-C charger which allows you to make use of the laptop for 2 hours in a 15 minute charge. At full charge, the Pixelbook can run for 10 hours.
The Pixelbook runs on the latest version of the ChromeOS which is highly secure, Google claims. This is the first laptop which comes with the Google Assistant built-in. There’s a key on the laptop which can be used to trigger the Assistant. The laptop also supports Google Play Store and all apps are easily installable.
The Pixelbook Pen too, is quite smart. If you hold a button and encircle something on the screen, the Google Assistant would identify what you’ve encircled and provide you more information about the selected text or image. The Assistant will give you meanings of words. The experience of the pen is almost as good as writing and drawing on paper. The Pen makes use of Machine Learning for handwriting recognition.
Google is teaming up with Snapchat to bring Snapchat experiences to the large screen. The Pixelbook starts at $999 and the Pen will come in at an additional price of $99.
