Figuring out which battery is right for your device can be hard.
There’s quite a bit to keep in mind when you’re looking to replace a vape battery, after all.
Chances are that you’ve got some serious questions about the whole affair.
So, without further ado, let’s jump right in so you can make sure that you’re able to get the right battery when you’re looking to maximize the potential of your vape.
Understanding mAH Ratings
One of the first things people have questions about is a battery’s capacity.
Fortunately, it’s quite easy. Battery capacity is measured in milliamp hours or mAH. This measurement is pretty easy to understand: it simply shows the amperage over time that a battery can handle.
For instance, a 1000 mAH battery could power a device that draws 1A for one hour.
Calculating amperage is easy enough, although not really necessary.
For the most part, all you need to know is that a larger mAH number means that the battery will last longer.
Connection and Vape Battery Type
For the most part, there are only two types of battery you need to concern yourself with when you’re trying to find one for your vape.
18650 batteries are most commonly used in mods. If you’re into cloud chasing and have a mechanical mod or another mod which can be opened they’re what you’re looking for.
They’re usually charged externally, although some mods will allow you to charge them while they’re still plugged in. Most vapers will keep a couple of extras around to switch out when they need to be charged.
Smaller, pen-style vapes will use a 510 threaded connection in most cases. These require a different style of charger and are slimmer than those vapes which use 18650 batteries.
It’s harder to find a bad 510-style battery, most of them are made by the same manufacturers as the tanks such as the Evod battery.
The important thing is to make sure your tank or mod is compatible with the batteries you’re looking at.
Let’s Talk Quality
If you’ve heard stories about the explosive results of a lithium battery venting you’re understandably wary about the whole process.
It’s easy to avoid problems, however.
Just make sure that you purchase a brand-name battery from a reputable manufacturer and you’re on the right path. The few problems that have occurred over the years universally came from cheap, out-of-country manufacturers who cut corners.
Chances are a brand-name battery that will cost you more. It’s one area of vaping where saving money can end up being dangerous. Just make sure that you don’t cheap out on batteries and there’s nothing to worry about.
Prepared With Knowledge
When it comes to your vape battery it pays off to know what you’re looking for.
They’re still simple devices, however, and as long as you buy a quality battery and know how to read mAH ratings and what type of connection you need you’ll be good to go.
So, now you know, and armed with this knowledge it’s time to go get the battery to make your vape shine. Don’t forget to bookmark our site to never miss our latest posts!
