The smartphone runs on 3GB of RAM and offers 16GB of storage space. It features a 13MP rear camera, and an 8MP front camera. The device runs on a 2610mAh battery life.

The BlackBerry DTEK50 goes on sale priced in at $299. The smartphone is available for pre-orders in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and The Netherlands. BlackBerry plans to have the device begin shipping by the 8th of August. The company has been touting this to be ‘the most secure Android smartphones’. BlackBerry has been known for its security and privacy. The company is known to be super-secure.

The BlackBerry Priv, which was an incredible phone, did not do well in profits due to its high price. The BlackBerry Priv was priced in at $699. The BlackBerry DTEK50 is $400 cheaper than the priv. Talking about the security of the smartphone, the company said that the BlackBerry DTEK50 will alert users if someone is making remote use of its camera or microphone, or accessing the phone’s location information.

With the BlackBerry DTEK50, the company is eyeing a major comeback into the markets. If the Priv brought them back to stability levels, the DTEK50 will make them profitable. The company had been losing out on goodwill before Priv came around. More details are expected to be revealed soon.
