Asus has launched yet another phone for its Indian audience. The Zenfone Zoom with its high-end optics, is a phone aimed at the photoholics. The Zenfone Zoom is launched at a price of 37,999. Now lets see what Asus has to offer at a price that is within the entry level DSLR segment.
Optical zoom in smartphones is not entirely an untouched category. Samsung also launched a camera centric version of the S4, labelled as s4 zoom/ K zoom. And makeshift optical lens kits that can be attached to smartphones also exist. But according to Asus, the Zenfone Zoom is different from previous phones because; “Zenfone Zoom is the world’s thinnest 3-x optical zoom smartphone with an innovative 10-element HOYA lens arrangement for crisp detail – and upto 12x total magnification”
With Zenfone Zoom Asus has now been able to combine Optical Zoom, Optical image stabilization and its propitiatory PixelMaster 2.0 technology to bring to the users the very best imaging product it can offer. The OIS provides the necessary stability to the user to capture clear pictures with upto total of 12x zoom(of which 3x is optical). The focus is touted to be of 0.03 seconds with Asus’ Laser focus. To provide a quick access to this imaging power Asus provides real(hardware) camera buttons to shoot/record.
Apart from the Optical tech, the Zenfone Zoom is enriched by an aluminium unibody frame with burnished leather back(available in white and black). It also packs in Asus BoostMaster quick charging and Asus Sonicmaster for its speakers and mic technology.
