Google has just released the Android O Developer Preview 3. This is the latest Developers Preview version from Google, meaning there’s only one more left till the final build comes out. The first developers preview came out in March, and the second one was launched last month during the Google I/O 2017. With the third one now out, the fourth one will be launched in July. However, for now let us take a look at the Android O Developer Preview 3
Android O Developer Preview 3
The arrival of this third developers preview is a major event. This preview version of the Android O OS comes out with the final APIs that app developers need to include in their apps to make them ready for the gen-next Android OS. This is the API level 26. Developers can now start publishing their apps targeted at the Android O Operating System to the Google Play Store.
In addition to that, app developers can now also build apps using the Android Studio 2.3.3 stable channel. Till now the developers had to resort to using the Android Studio 3.0 Canary 1. The Android O Developer Preview 3 has been labeled OPP3.170518.006. The update has started rolling out as an OTA update for those on the Android Beta program. This build too, is rolling out only for the users of the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, and Nexus Player.
This update may not bring in many major changes to the OS, but what it does bring in is this air of finality. It is almost as if we are just a couple of steps away from the final build of the Android O OS.
