Android Nougat has been one of the latest versions of the open-source Android operating system. Google started the Developer Preview program since Android Lollipop for getting real-time tests from the real users and not just the Googlers. The Android Nougat got Developer preview version up to Developer Preview 5.
Yesterday, we covered a story where a Redditor got the Internal Android Nougat OTA update which was meant for Googlers. There was another instance where Huawei accidentally released OTA update for Huawei P9 featuring Android Nougat Beta Build. This points to the fact that Google is gearing up for the official release of Android.
A recent tweet by Evan Blass (@evleaks) further strengthens this expectation. In his tweet he said Android 7.0 will release in August with 8/5 security patch and Nexus 5 owners won’t be able to enjoy it.
Android 7.0 releases next month, with the 8/5 security patch. Sorry Nexus 5 owners, no Nougat for you 😢

The first version of Android was released in September, 2008. Google has been repeating this trend for the past 8 years. However, this year there has apparently been some change of plans. Android 7.0 Nougat will be launched in August. Let’s not think too much about it and await the launch of the new version.
With the launch of every new version of Android, the Nexus line of devices are the first ones to enjoy it. If Nougat gets released next month and Nexus 5 does not receive it, then another tradition would be broken. However, The best thing about Android OS is, even if you don’t get the official flavour of the latest android update on your device, there are always developers like Cyanogen who will be up with a ROM.
